ndeed, this is a challenge for us all to meet,
in our respective roles, so as to make a dif-
ference to the benefit of young people.
The Region of Attica responds to this challenge
by showing in practice that the economic crisis
cannot and should not act as an obstacle to
growth.
Now that it is essential to create new jobs and
reverse the brain-drain phenomenon, namely the
migration of young people abroad, the Regional
Authority of Attica has made clear choices by tak-
ing full advantage of the European financing
tools, thus putting emphasis on supporting youth
entrepreneurship, innovation and start-ups.
A synergy between the Region of Attica and the
Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(ACCI) is part of this approach. In particular, with
assistance from the Regional Development Fund
of Attica (RDFA), innovative new business entities
from the Athens Start-up Business Incubator
(THEA) appear in a specifically designed area in
the ACCI premises, in order to present their path
to entrepreneurship and business ideas, thus
passing the baton on to potential young entrepre-
neurs through their products and services.
At the same time, in order to further strengthen
Greek start-ups, the Region of Attica, together
with the Athens Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (ACCI), participates in key events, such
as the Web Summit in Lisbon, the Slush Festival

The provision of substantial support to youth
innovative entrepreneurship is a crucial issue,
especially in the current challenging times.
It constitutes a multifaceted, complex and
constantly evolving field, which, given the
unprecedented possibilities currently offered by
new technologies, is a strong card for the future
of our societies.
Start-up support is at the
heart of a synergy
