The ACCI Business Angels Network (ACCI-BAN)
has set the following targets:
a) to cover the substantial gap that currently exists
in regard to the financing and administrative
support of Greek innovative start-ups and ideas,
as well as firms at the first stages of operation;
b) to contribute to the promotion of entrepreneurship
by attracting investment, initially from Greece,
and subsequently from Europe and the rest of
the world. The immediate plans of the Network
include the translation of its electronic platform in
English, in order to expand the scope for attract-
ing investors, as well as investment proposals;
c) to promote Greek innovative ideas and firms
both in Greece and abroad, offering them the
opportunity to attract increased financing,
whenever considered necessary for their reali-
sation and growth. Moreover, ACCI-BAN will

he Business Angels Network is another
initiative of the Athens Chamber of
Commerce and Industry that aims at pro-
moting entrepreneurship in Greece. The purpose
of ACCI-BAN is to bring wealthy and experienced
entrepreneurs and company executives together
with innovative ideas and start-ups or existing
firms in search of investors. The Business Angels
(BAs)-members of the Network share their experi-
ence and, by widening the firms' financing oppor-
tunities, contribute to growth and employment.
There are no constraints regarding the stage of
business (start-up, existing etc.) or legal status of
the firm, or the amount of financing required.
Financing may start from even a few tens of thou-
sands euros per firm, i.e. amounts that venture
capitalists and banks refuse to provide to start-
ups or firms at the very first stages of operation.
