In regard to energy company privatizations, a new
draft law will cancel the plans for the privatization
of the Public Power Corporation (PPC), which
provided for the creation of a “small PPC” and the
acquisition of a 17% stake in the parent compa-
ny’s equity by a strategic investor.
The government will do the same with the
Independent Power Transmission Operator
(IPTO), by cancelling the ongoing tender for the
sale of a 66% stake, while it will also rule out any
possibility for the sale of the Public Gas
Corporation (DEPA).
In the case of Hellenic Petroleum, Mr. Lafazanis
has stated that nothing is going to change, and
T
he Minister, Panagiotis Lafazanis, has
heralded the end of energy company pri-
vatizations, with the exception of DESFA,
whose fate is going to be determined by the gov-
ernment after a final decision has been reached
by the European Commission.
In addition, the Minister stresses that Greece will
comply with all the obligations that derive from
European legislation in the field of energy and
mineral resources.
In the forthcoming months, the leadership of the
Ministry of Productive Reconstruction is expected
to present its policies in the fields of energy,
