billion, as compared to €12.15 billion in 2013, with
Germany accounting for the largest amount in
absolute terms, i.e. €2 billion, and France show-
ing the largest increase, by 25%.
In 2014, the travel balance of payments regis-
tered a €11.37 billion surplus, as compared to a
€10.3 billion surplus in 2013, increased by 10.2%.
This resulted from the fact that tourist receipts
increased by €1.29 billion, whereas the expendi-
ture of Greek tourists abroad increased by only
€239 million, although the average expenditure
per trip fell by 9.4%. It should be noted that net
inflows from travel services accounted for 57.4%
of net service revenues, and covered 63.7% of
Greece’s trade deficit.
