and finally, only one in ten saw their turnover
decrease by 1-10%.
●Any year-on-year increases in turnover are very
small indeed. More specifically, 71% of
respondents pointed to a 1-10% increase in
turnover, while the remainder reported an 11-
20% increase.
●Fifty five percent of the respondents stated that
the best period of the winter sales was from
12/2/2015 to 31/1/2015, followed by the period
from 1/2/2015 to 15/2/2015 (30%), while the
period from 16/2/2015 till the end of the sales
period was ranked last.
There is no doubt that the austerity policies have
finally taken their toll on consumers, who failed to
respond to such alluring winter sales, while,
according to data by the Hellenic Statistical
Authority, the deflationary trends of the past two
years have been consolidated.
In January 2015, the domestic market shrank by
2.8% year-on-year, as compared to a 1.5% year-
on-year decrease (in January 2014); as a result,
the incessant drop in the general level of prices
for a 23rd consecutive month brought the
Consumer Price Index to 104.32 points, its worst
performance in the past 4.5 years.
In 2014-2015, total
employment in SMEs is
estimated to fall by 106,000
people, while the total
number of enterprises
will be reduced by 40,000.
