Our policy recommendations will focus on how
we will place job creation at the top of our trade
policy’s priorities. There are a number of policies
that should be activated in order to materialize the
backbone of international trade and commerce as
a functionally integrated process within the design
of our freight transportation and supply chain.
Trade, as well as bilateral trade patterns are con-
sistent with the growth model of the new Hellenic
Government. This model comprises two ele-
ments:
The first one is well-grounded on trade integration
with a growth model that will respect locally pro-
duced food and goods. Our trade agreements will
protect product names and processes for certain
food products associated with specific local food
cultures and economies.
The second one reflects our efforts to work togeth-
er with various institutions and Chambers of
Commerce, in order to accelerate our combined
policies for creating the conditions that will help us
overcome the obstacles to trade development.
Conclusively, the strategic importance of trade
reinforces our policies in a large spectrum of sup-
portive, economic and social priorities in the field
of investment in the EU and the management of
human and social resources. With much consid-
eration on trade deals, which must promote eco-
nomic growth, support jobs and strengthen cross-
border cooperation, we perceive of trade growth
as more than merely an economic indicator.
Furthermore, within the European Union, the
European Commission has the relevant data on
tariff duties, the technical requirements to trade,
food health requirements, anti-dubbing and anti-
subsidy duties, and other issues.
As part of the European dimension of our policy
on trade, we are constantly oriented towards
expanding the possibilities to develop our com-
mercial activities and also to defend the need to
actively participate in the conformation of
European policies. We will support all investment
opportunities offered by the dynamism of our
economy and, in addition, assisted by our excel-
lent scientific and technical human resources,
and with respect to the environment and sustain-
able development, we will aim at disseminating
the benefits to the entire Greek society.
