Based on dialogue and close collaboration with
the parties involved in tourism, but always
focused on the programming principles and the
main policy directions of the new government, we
will move towards upgrading Greek tourism.
In this context, we will emphasize: Initially, on
supporting small and medium-sized tourist enter-
prises and encouraging local pacts and growth
synergies on the regional level. We are interested
in synergies between local cooperatives, local
producer organizations and market agencies on
one side, and tourism entrepreneurs on the other.
Because, tourism is also a concern of local soci-
eties, whose aim is to upgrade and enrich the
tourist product, as well as promoting the compar-
ative advantages of our country’s culture and its
inexhaustible natural environment
Moreover, Greek gastronomy, with its huge variety
of raw materials, the endless wealth of traditional
recipes and its high nutritional value, is one of the
biggest assets of the Greek tourism package.
In addition, we will promote the development of a
multi-theme tourism, which comprises special
and alternative forms of tourism.
Cruise tourism, health and wellness tourism,
medical tourism, healing tourism (Greece has the
largest number of effective, in scientific terms,
thermal springs in the world); cultural tourism,
religious tourism and ecotourism, rural tourism,
wine tourism and other forms, such as recreation-
al sports tourism, training tourism and mega-
sporting event tourism (we have seen the boost

ference tourism or winter tourism can decisively
help expand the tourist season.
We aim at rallying together the Ministry of
Tourism, tourist practitioners, tourist employees,
large and small enterprises, so that we can all
move forward together as part of a collective
effort, in order to bring Greek tourism to the top
positions of the global market, where it really
belongs.
