The review of the evolution of Greek exports,
based on 6-month and 9-month data, corrobo-
rates the dynamics of the past 2 to 3 years,
despite the existence of problems that impede
their uninterrupted further growth. In regard to the
year 2013, though, it is estimated that the total vol-
ume of exports will account for almost 15% of GDP,
despite the existence of indisputable problems,
which Greek exporters manage to overcome by
means of their patience, persistence, ingenuity,
adaptability, accountability, courage and consis-
tency.
It is true that by adopting new growth models and
turning its back to condemned paradigms of the
past, the country is on a virtuous path; however,
there are many problems, and dealing with them
is not an easy task.
That said, it is also true that the international eco-
nomic environment obviously recognizes the
effort that is being made, and this recognition is
starting to move beyond the mere expression of
sympathy. This is proven by the recent classifica-
tion of the Athens Stock Exchange as an emerg-
ing market.
Undoubtedly, the aim of raising, in the first
instance, the contribution of extrovert entrepre-
neurship, i.e. exports, tourism, shipping and
transport, to GDP to almost 30%, represents a
complex and hard venture, whose completion is,
in any case, of crucial importance for the coun-
try’s present and future.
