Greek National Opera
Carmen
by Georges Bizet
Musical Director: Myron Michailidis
Director: Stephen Langridge
Scenography - costumes: George Souglidis
The tragic story of Carmen, as told in this very
popular opera by Bizet —which scandalized 19th
century audiences, albeit opened new vistas for
opera thanks to its musical and dramaturgical
innovations— is still touching audiences with its
passion and melody. The most popular opera in
the French repertoire, with wonderful arias and
grand choral arrangements, will be conducted by
the Greek National Opera’s artistic director Myron
Michailidis and directed by Stephen Langridge,
the top ranking British director and artistic director
of The Göteborg Opera, with the participation of
famous soloists from Greece and abroad.

Kamerata of the Friends of Music Orchestra
Kiss me, Kate
by Cole Porter
Many people believe that this is the best musical
ever written.
Kiss me, Kate
, a play that balances
between conventional musical and opera, was
first presented in 1948 and immediately captured
both audiences and critics.
The Athens Camerata–The Friends of Music
Orchestra and Giorgos Petrou once again amaze
festivalgoers by presenting this work for the first
time in Greece, in its original 1948 orchestration
— a masterpiece of symphonic jazz and classical
sounds.
Featuring a group of collaborators that will sur-
prise the audience, the musical will be presented
in a semi-directed form, placing Cole Porter’s bril-
liant music on center stage.
Well-known hits, such as “So in love with you”, “I
hate men”, and “Brush up your Shakespeare,”
promise to make this one of the summer’s most
enchanting evenings.
