n addition, the Fisheries sector contributes
significantly to maritime policy, a thematic
horizontal priority that runs all three of the
presidency’s priorities (growth-jobs, migration-
borders-mobility and euro zone integration).
Diversity, Quality, Sustainability and Extroversion,
as drivers for EU prosperity, growth and jobs are
the motto of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural
Development during the Greek presidency. For
this reason, in addition to issues that will be dealt
with at the relevant Council bodies, a number of
initiatives at home have been scheduled towards
this direction.
Primary Presidency Priority in Both
Agriculture & Fisheries
In both the Agriculture and Fisheries sectors the
presidency’s primary objective will be the formal
adoption of all remaining issues related to the
Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and Common
Fisheries Policy (CFP) reform, as well as the
finalization of detailed rules and delegated acts
regarding the implementation of the reformed
policies, in order to ensure a smooth transition
from the current situation to the new one.
Priorities in Agriculture
As regards Agriculture, the presidency will pay
particular attention to forwarding the work on the
Commission’s new legislative proposals and/or
report on fruits and vegetables, the distribution of
milk and fruit to school children, the promotion for
agricultural products in the internal market and in
third countries, organic production and the
labelling of organic products, as key components
of the EU quality policy, as well as of the dairy
sector beyond 2015.
In order to further promote innovation in the
Agricultural sector and contribute to the valorisa-
tion of European agricultural diversity, the presi-
dency will proceed to the following initiatives:

The Agriculture and Fisheries sectors constitute
the basic pillars for growth, jobs and social
cohesion. In this context they are at the heart of
the priorities of the incoming Greek presidency
and our national development policy in general.
