T
he Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, firmly believing in Greece's great growth poten-
tial, which is brought to light by the crisis, as well as in the increased role of the private sector in
overcoming the recession that jeopardizes social cohesion, rewarded, once again, Greek busi-
nesses that played a major role in the economy, achieved distinction and set a good example.
Without downplaying today's problems, we retain our optimism for the future, always confident in the resource-
fulness, creativity and resilience of Greek entrepreneurs. In tough times, it is better understood that the sur-
vival of the country and the welfare of the people depend, to a great extent, on the operation of dynamic, inno-
vative and extrovert going concerns, which offer quality products at competitive prices, and on the activity of
daring investors with a modern business culture, who believe that legitimate profits present a challenge to their
potential, a vindication of coordinated effort, and a means of making a useful contribution to Greek society.
This is the kind of businesses our Chamber seeks to encourage and support through its initiatives, in order to
facilitate their work, insisting on the need to establish a more favourable environment for all creative forces and
a more attractive framework for all investment ventures.
