realize efficient policies and concrete actions and
tools regarding the economical development in
terms of integration of the Euro-Mediterranean
Area, through a continuous and open dialogue
between Governments, Institutions and the pri-
vate sector. Greece joined us right from the start
in this ambitious project, and time proved us right.
Although the current global economic crisis has
inevitably affected commercial relationships
–both on the bilateral and multilateral levels– Italy
and Greece still share common goals and com-
mitments, as far as the Euro-Mediterranean
region is concerned. Yet, Euro-Mediterranean
economic and financial integration indeed repre-
sents a wider development framework our two
Countries are focusing their activities on.
Issues such as growth, unemployment, best prac-
tice, and social stability are nowadays priorities
for most of the developed countries, all over the
world. The Milan Chamber of Commerce and
Promos, strongly believe that Small and Medium-
sized Enterprises (SMEs) could represent a con-
crete driving force in the difficult process of build-
ing a new asset for economic stability in the
Mediterranean. Our commitment is entirely
focused on supporting cooperation amid Euro-
Mediterranean SMEs, building concrete business
opportunities.
Despite the recent economic downturn, the Greek
market still remains attractive for Italian SMEs and
Italian potential investors. Italy’s cooperation strate-
gy in the Euro-Mediterranean Region is, in this
sense, very far-sighted. A system of consolidated
relationships, not only in terms of trade, but also on
the social, cultural and political levels, is the very
requirement for enhancing integration amid compa-
nies in the entire region.
There is still a long way to go, but we do believe
that we are on the right track, and we are very
proud to walk this path toward Euro-Med integra-
tion, peace and economic stability together with
Greece, a country willing and capable of over-
coming any obstacles the current crisis may have
put, and ready to create growth opportunities for
its partners all over the world.
