ondary school graduates. These people belong to
the most entrepreneurial age groups, since 10.6%
are aged 25-29, 21.2% are aged 30-34, 25.3% are
aged 35-39 and 12.9% are aged 40-44.
Equally impressive is the fact that 70.3% of the
respondents stated that they would take a pay cut
in exchange for a better quality of life. Their interest
is focused in traditional crops, as well as organic-
alternative produce. More specifically, 51.5% of the
people who have actually initiated the process of
fleeing city life are interested in olive cultiva-
tion/olive oil production, 51.5% are interested in
organic farming, 33.3% in aromatic plants, 31.8% in
fruit and vegetables, 30.3% in vines/wine, 24.2% in
mushrooms, 21.2% in truffles, 19.7% in pomegran-
ates, 13.6% in fruit, 13.6% in stevia, 12.1% in bio-
fuel, and 10.6% in legumes.
Another interesting finding is that 75.9% of
respondents view the back-to-the-land movement
as a positive prospect for the economy, 72.9%
consider it to be a positive prospect for the fami-
ly, 70.6% for the individual her/himself, and 64.2%
for the labour market.
