Trade with Greece 2016 - page 61

T
hese are the findings of an analysis con-
ducted by the Panhellenic Exporters
Association and the Export Research
Centre (KEEM) on preliminary data for the entire
year 2015; at the same time, the government
stresses its commitment to the further enhance-
ment of the Greek businesses’ export efforts.
It should be noted that the European Commission,
in its winter forecast, revised upwards the esti-
mates regarding the growth of Greek exports of
goods and services in 2016, pointing to an expect-
ed increase of 1.9% (against a previous forecast
for a 1.2% increase), a rate that translates into
additional revenues of 1.1 billion euros (including
petroleum products) for the Greek economy, as
compared to last year.
However, the figures for the year 2015 indicate a
5.1% drop in the total value of Greek exports to
25.5 billion euros from 26.9 billion euros in 2014.
Excluding petroleum products, though, exports
rose by almost 7.8% to 17.9 billion euros from
16.6 billion euros in 2014.

Export performance
in 2015
The exceptional export performance of most industries,
excluding petroleum products and raw materials,
during 2015, was accompanied by major shifts in the
structure and geographical targeting of Greek exports.
That said, the total value of exports declined for a third
consecutive year.
