It is worth noting that the total value of exports,
including petroleum products, in 2010 stood at
16.39 billion euros.
Analyzing the progress of Greek exports per sec-
tor, we see that petroleum products were the
main driver of this growth, since their exports rose
by 295%, mostly to Turkey and the US. Thus,
according to provisional ELSTAT data, Greek
exports, including petroleum products, increased
by 37% in 2011. Apart from petroleum products,
there was also a 11.4% increase in manufactured
goods and a 5.1% increase in agricultural prod-
ucts, while the exports of raw materials
decreased by 6.2% in 2011.
The cumulative growth in the value of exports
B
y hitting these historic highs, Greek
exports create a legacy of national respon-
sibility for further enhancing outward-look-
ing entrepreneurship in Greece”, stressed the
President of the Panhellenic Exporters
Association, Ms. Christina Sakellaridi, underlining
once again the need for formulating a national
export strategy.
In 2011, the total value of exports rose by 36.8%,
to more than 22.45 billion euros, according to pro-
visional data by the Hellenic Statistical Authority,
which were analyzed by the Panhellenic
Exporters Association and the Export Research
Center (KEEM). Excluding petroleum products,
total exports rose by 9.4%, to 16.01 billion euros.

Greek exports are on
the rise
The value of Greek exports exceeded 22.45 billion
euros and broke the 10 percent-of-GDP barrier for
the first time since 2000, according to data from the
Pan-Hellenic Exporters Association (PSE) regarding the
value of exports for 2011; however, exports
decreased during the last months of the year, a fact
that, combined with estimates for recession or limited
growth in the Euro zone, leads to moderate expecta-
tions for the near future.
