b) The expansion and streamlining of the coun-
try's social and coastal infrastructure (sewage
networks, telecommunications, transportation,
airports, ports etc.) in order to establish the
conditions for creating new appealing tourist
destinations and ensuring a more balanced
regional development.
c) The more efficient utilization of potential syner-
gies between tourism and other productive or
cultural areas (gastronomy, medical services,
sports, culture etc.)
d) The utilization of new tourist markets (dynamic
penetration of emerging markets, such as
Russia and China), sustaining, at the same
time, our shares in traditional European mar-
kets.
e) The attraction of venture capital, in order to
revive tourism investment through the con-
struction of large conference centers, the cre-
ation of holiday home complexes, the estab-
lishment of modern marine tourism infrastruc-
tures (marinas), the creation of Integrated
Tourism Development Areas etc.
f) The optimization of the Greek tourist product's
value-for-money, through the enhancement of
our tourist enterprises' productivity. The main
drivers of this effort are the fuller utilization of
new information and communication technolo-
gies (increase of Internet usage, sustained
expansion of the use of information systems,
utilization of digital data etc.) and the radical
improvement of the human resources' profes-
sional expertise (specialization of new, and
training of existing, personnel).
g) The improvement of the foreign tourists'
access to our country, in order to minimize any
discomfort to our visitors (simplification of entry
visa requirements, new airline connections
providing a direct link between Greece and
remote countries from where we have good
reason to expect an increase in tourist arrivals,
revamping of regional airports etc.)
