hanks to its strategic position at the bor-
ders of the Balkans and Turkey, the
Greek market has solid advantages to
offer to French companies. The influence, espe-
cially of its banks, in this region of Europe, is
strong, and business relations are deeply and his-
torically established.
A number of French Groups have fully under-
stood this challenge: more than 100 companies
with French interests are located in Greece, and,
with the numerous national distributors added,
France is currently supplying and creating almost
35,000 jobs for the Greek labour market.
The conference that was organized by the Paris
Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIP) in
October 2011, at a period of deep crisis regarding
the European stance for dealing with Greece, has
definitely shown our support to this country: a way
to promote the positive aspects of Greece’s effort
and its capacity to offer real business opportuni-
ties for French companies. This event attracted
150 people from companies, politics and interme-
diary organizations on the theme of the “Greek

Despite the international crisis that has reduced trade
between Greece and France, France remains one of
Greece’s leading partners. France is today ranked as the
5th supplier of Greece.
